The Chicago Youth Symphony has commissioned Higdon to compose a work to celebrate this group's 80th anniversary. This new orchestral work,Time Abounds, will be premiered on May 17, 2026.

The New World Symphony has commissioned Higdon to write a work for the orchestra and the Miami City Ballet. This exciting new work, Dance Measures, will have its world premiere in April of 2026.

Nova Linea Musica has commissioned Higdon to write a new work for piano and violinist, Rabia Brooke. Art Measures will be premiered in Chicago on March 11, 2026, 6:30pm. A pre-concert conversation will be held at 5:45pm

In partnership with the Metropolitan State University of Denver, Higdon has been commissioned to write a horn trio for Steven Gross, Phil Ficsor, and Gabriel Bita. This premiere will be part of a two-day celebration of Higdon, featuring an all-Higdon chamber program. The premiere is slated for January 26.

Higdon is honored to be inducted into the American Bandmasters Association in March. Membership is through invitation to those closely affiliated to the wind band movement. The ABA works diligently to expand the role and importance of wind band music around the world.
